Comida
San Miguel has so many amazing restaurants, but these are just a few of our personal favorites—the ones we find ourselves going back to again and again. There are tons of other great spots too, so definitely explore, but this list is a good place to start!
Breakfast & Brunch

Panio is the bakery and Cumpanio is their attached sit down restaurant on Correo. You will find multiple locations all around the city. We love their baguettes and croissants!

Known for brunch and rooftop views. They also serve dinner but Sunday brunch tops it all. We recommend reservations!

About 15 minutes outside of town, El Pavo is run by our friends April and Fernando who have created the best brunch experience in town! Set on a ranch, you will see animals everywhere as well as an amazing outdoor play area for the kids! You can spend your whole day there and purchase pool access. They also offer bottomless mimosas!

About 30 minutes outside of the city, Mama Mia Campestre is another ranch style restaurant to enjoy a long brunch. There is a tree house area for the kids to play as well as a huge pond and rocks to climb on.

Inside Cafe: Known for it's healthy and vibrant plates and rooftop view.

B'Ani Terraza: Another wonderful rooftop, elevated Mexican food, just a couple blocks from the square. Everything we've ever had at B'Ani has been great. They also are a fantastic choice for lunch.

Cafe Rama: This is Lyndsay's favorite place for an almond milk latte. They have traditional Mexican breakfasts and is just down the street from the Rosewood hotel.

Ki'Bok Coffee: A tiny cafe that first opened in Tulum, is known for having the best coffee in town. The rooftop is a great place to work remotely.

Ignacio Ramirez Mercado: The food stalls at the Mercado are all fantastic. We love to stop and get a licuado (smoothie) and walk around.

Taco stands: Our go-to's are the stands down the street from the Rosewood on the corner of Nemesio Diez and San Antonio
Lunch & Quick Bites

Hierba Santa Cocina Del Sur: Near the Fabrica, this is the home to the absolute BEST enfrijoladas in town! This is one of the must have dishes in town. No alchohol :( But amazing limonadas!

Hecho en Mexico: Next to the Institute de Allende, this is a popular ex pat hang out. Our favorite dish is the arrachera with rajas con crema and a side of roasted serranos. Has a kids menu!

Santo Camaron: Complete with a play place for kids, this place is great for large groups and families. It is seafood focused and has some of the best octopus in town! Our favorite is the pulpo diablo! Full bar & kids menu!

La Parada: Fantastic peruvian food! Our favorite meal there starts with a pisco sour and the tiradito buena vida followed by the causa de pulpo al olivio.

Loncheria Bony:
The torta stand inside the mercado is one of our favorite lunches. The pollo torta is our personal favorite. They do have hot dogs for kids. It will be crowded- just wait and someone will get up.

Pueblo Viejo:
Great place right off the square for margaritas and traditional Mexican fare.
Pollo Feliz: "The Chicken Place". AMAZING place with kids! It has a huge indoor play place! Think of it as a really nice El Pollo Loco. You order either a half or whole chicken and it comes with a full salad bar with chips and salsa. Only has beer.
Mama Mela: Small hole in the wall burrito stand, great for a quick bite when you want to walk around and explore!
Tacos Don Felix: Just outside centro, this is a locals favorite casual Mexican restaurant with huge margaritas.

Dinner & Late Night

La Favolosa:
One of our favorite restaurants in town! Awesome rooftop view, this has some of the best pizza and fresh pasta you will ever have. There is a barber on the first floor if you need a haircut before dinner ;)

Prime Steakhouse:
One of the top 50 best steakhouses in the world this is our go-to for a nice night out. They even have an indoor play place with staff to watch the kids while you eat! We love the avocado carpaccio, green ceviche, wagyu tacos with bone marrow, the passionfruit tart, and obviously the steak!
Hank's: Another ex pat favorite Hank's was a real surprise. When you get tired of Mexican food, this is where you go! Traditional New Orleans fare, everything on the menu is great. Even better is the people watching at the bar.

Los Milagros: There are 2 locations, one next to the square and one next to El Mirrador offering a great view of the city. It is loud and bustling! Known for their molcajetes, this is a great place for a large group!

Luna Rooftop: Located at the Rosewood hotel, Luna has the best view in town and is perfect for a sunset dinner. Everything on the menu is fantastic!

El Manantial: Tavern style restaurant El Manantial is popular with young locals. Small bites & tostadas. Good for a late lunch or late night grub.

Andy's Taco Cart: You'll hear about this a lot, it's just how it sounds, a local taco cart that is known for the best late night grub.
